Digital Nature | Karim Rashid

Karim Rashid’s Digital Nature past de digitale symbolen van hypertekst toe in een collectie die representatief is voor de jaren negentig.

Het decoratieve landschap van de eclectische Karim Rashid is een onderdompeling in de postmoderne iconografie waarin een volledig digitale spiritualiteit de klassieke religie overneemt. Een nieuwe taal wordt geboren, die is gemaakt van gedigitaliseerde, vervormde, gehypertextualiseerde symbolen, die echter geënt zijn op de architecturale wereld, haar besmetten en actualiseren.

Karim Rashid

Hij is van Egyptische afkomst en woont en werkt in New York, waar hij in 1993 zijn ontwerpstudio opende. Hij houdt zich bezig met het interieurontwerp en de architectuur van hotels, restaurants en winkels in de wereld, maar ook met mode, meubels, verlichting, kunst en muziek voor installaties. Zijn creaties maken deel uit van de permanente collecties van de belangrijkste musea ter wereld, waaronder het MoMA in New York.
